Book version of witch

Hernan

Do you know that the title “big fish” is a noun used to describe a person who tells jokes or a person who tells many stories, and some of these are not true? Tim Burton, the movie director, I think, was very wise to change some scenes of the book in the movie for the following reasons; first, he knew that this book had a lot of popularity and if he made the exactly as the book says, the movie was not going to be a hit; second, he wanted to attract more people by adding something new. In addition the director saw it was very necessary to combine situations from real life and fantasy.

Big Fish is a movie that has two ways. One way is when Edward tells his life story like a fairy tale. He combines fantasy with daily events. Burton has used fantasy as a means to show people the content of the movie. He gets the nature of rural people in some part of the US.

Every chapter that Edward tells has a meaning; for example when Edward meets the giant Karl, when Edward leaves the town of Ashton, as he feels it is too small for his ambitions, while Karl thinks the town is too small for him.

When Edward meets Amos, and when he works for him without pay, it is just to know where the girl of his dreams lives. And Amos uses many ways to tell Edward where the girl lives. The story seemed totally different from the book. If we see the way Edward was born, it is different from the way the son was born.

The other way in Big Fish is that the director explores the father-son relationship; In fact, he feels his father never tells him the truth. But finally when he comes to know how his dad helped the town, he comes to know about him.

The last part would just leave you sad. It is one of the most moving and touching scenes. When Will finally sees his father’s friends at the funeral; everyone has a memory of him.

Big Fish is one of Burton’s most knocked movies. In fact ,every scene tells of a truth in our life. What Burton has done is to use the fable concept to describe Edward’s actions and intentions.

Big Fish also has a great combination of both movie and the book; you can find this by reading the book or watching this movie, and you will have a refreshing look towards human relationships. That is my point of view of the movie and the meaning for the term “Big Fish.”
