Weblog Assignment #4

If you click here, you can go to SLOWLANE.COM. This web site helps staying at home dads and their families. There are many searchable online references, resources and networks on this web site. Therefore, they can find out a lot of information which can help them easily. We can also read articles, buy many books, see news, and enjoy poetries. All of them are written for staying at home dads including local and international dad organizations, single dads, new dads, and divorced dads. In addition, there are many links not only to discuss about those issues, but also to communicate with people who have same situations.

My opinion

Nowaday, dads who stay at home like single dads, new dads, or divorced dads are increasing gradually. I think this web site is very useful for those people, because they can find out the way to live more comfortably. They also can contact with people who have same situations, so they can share their ideas and opinions each other. As a result of this, they can release their stresses and strains for their societies or families. I think this web site offers them a good opportunity to solve their problems.

Weblog Assignment #3

I saw this web site. The article on the web site states that many European women are still in cruel circumstances for their work despite the fact that they do better in school than men. From this article, we can get the information about present circumstances of gender roles for their work, and know about some different treatment between male and female. There are mainly three kinds of information with some of the statistics. According to the first statistics, Latvia has the highest proportion of women managers. The second statistics show that Cyprus has the highest gender pay gap. The third statistics show the average of one third of women who are part-time workers.

My opinion

There is a similar problem in Japan. I wonder that despite the fact that a lot of women have better education in school than men, this is not reflected on entry to the labor market, and if they get jobs, their wages are less than men's wages. However, as this article says, I think this matter is getting better gradually. One of the reasons is that gender institution deeply thinks about it. Also in some countries, many women clamor against their government policy, because of lower pay. Therefore, I think this matter will be improved in the future.

Japanese fairy tale "Kaguyahime"

Once upon a time, a grandpa and grandma lived somewhere. Grandpa made money by making baskets with cut bamboo. One day, when he went to the forest as usual, he found bamboo which twinkled brightly. he cut this bamboo and looked into the inside of this bamboo. Then, there was a baby girl in this bamboo. As they had no children, they decided to bring up this baby girl. He named the baby girl "Kaguyahime". She grew up very well, and she became very beautiful. She was proposed to a lot of young men many times. She led them to look for treasure as a condition for accepting their proposal, but the treasure never existed, so they couldn't find the treasure. So actually Kaguyahime didn't want to marry. She became sad day be day. One day, grandpa asked her about that. She answered that an ambassador may pick me up from the moon before long. Then, finally the day came. As grandpa didn't want to give her to them, he attacked them. However, it was hopeless to protect Kaguyahime. Eventually, Kaguyahime returned to the moon with the ambassador. It's a sad story.
